JOTA Campout this Weekend!
I hope that you are all excited for the JOTA campout this weekend! Our Troop will be camping by the Fire Ring at the Medicine River Scout Center. For those camping, please report to Mr. Boyd at the MRSC when you arrive (which should be early evening). Please be prepared for colder weather camping. Rain is not predicted, but BE PREPARED!
As you all may know, the Jamboree tents have arrived, and our Troop will be camping in those tents this weekend! You do not need to bring a tent, they will be available for your use in the Troop Trailer. We also have some sleeping pads that were recently donated to the Troop for your use.
To get to MRSC, head West out Central Avenue West. Follow the road about two miles, the entrance to the Scout Center will be on the right. A map is provided below.
Please remember that the only meal that will be provided will be breakfast on Saturday. You will have to cook all of your other meals yourself. Our Troop trailer will be at the MRSC and you are welcome to setup the camp kitchen for your use. Please remember your mess kits!
Younger Scouts should be prepared to work on their Totin’ Chip and Firem’n Chit at the campout. Earning the Totin’ Chip and Firem’n Chit will authorize a Scout to carry a knife or build fires!
All Scouts will have the opportunity to work on their Radio and Electronics merit badges at JOTA on Saturday.
Please remember, we WILL have an abbreviated Scout meeting on Monday at 6pm. Please make a point to attend.

This next weekend October 18-20th is Jamboree On The Air, a time when scouts all over the world get on Ham Radios and talk to each other! It will be held at Medicine River Scout Center, out Central Ave West about two miles out of town.
Troop 26 will be camping out from Friday to Sunday, and would like to invite any and all scouts to join us!
We will have three or four radio stations up, as well as a CW (morse code) station where the boys can send messages to each other via two keys.
We will also be offering the Radio Merit Badge at 2pm on Saturday. There will be Merit Badge books and materials to work on it there. Keep in mind that to obtain the merit badge that day, boys will need to do some advance reading and a worksheet. I will have the worksheets and books there, so come early if you want to get it done Saturday.
I will be teaching the Electronics Merit Badge as well, it will involve building a simple circuit, learning what different electronic components are and how they work, and learning to solder. All materials will be provided.
So, come one, come all! Should be a great time!
