Medical Forms, Permission Slips and the Caving Trip

Troop 26;

I hope that you are all excited for our tour of Lick Creek cave on Saturday! This should be a very worthwhile, interesting and fun expedition. For those of you that joined us last year, John Juras will again be leading us through the cave. For those of you joining us, please make sure to meet us in the parking lot of the Lazy Doe no later than 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. As noted in previous notes and our meeting on Monday, BE PREPARED. That means a change of clothes kept in a bag that will stay dry, extra food and water, helmets, head lamps, leather gloves, sturdy shoes, etc. To join us, you will have to have a day pack with you with all of the 10 essentials.

A few words about food this weekend. Friday night dinner and Saturday lunch will be largely “on-your-own.” On Friday night, I will provide charcoal and ensure that we have a hot grill to cook upon. I will also provide potatoes and the fixings for baked potatoes. You are encouraged to bring your own tin foil dinner or other meat/vegetable to cook on the grill!

I will provide eggs and other ingredients for breakfast on Saturday morning. Even if you are not staying over on Friday night, you are welcome to join us for breakfast on Saturday, which will be ready by 7. Please bring your mess kits, as always.

In addition, I have attached a copy of the BSA Permission Slip and Medical Form to this note. It is Troop policy to destroy any medical form over 12 months old. If you have not submitted a medical form within the last year, please fill one out and give it to me before you enter the cave. You only need to fill out parts A and B, as this expedition is less than 72 hours. HOWEVER, everyone attending Summer Camp will have to fill out part C before we leave for Camp in July.

Finally, please have your parent or guardian fill out the attached permission slip and give it to me before we enter the cave. No one will be allowed to enter the cave without an up to date medical form and permission slip!
