Service with a Smile!
The Scout Law tells us, among other things, that a Scout is helpful and friendly. We all appreciate working with folks that are both helpful and friendly. Your council staff is made up of men and women who are here to serve you to make Scouting the very best program possible for the youth of Montana.
Because of our geography many of the interactions that take place to support you and Scouting in Montana occur via phone, email, internet, postal, or delivery services… rarely are they done in person. While we know and love the big sky and wide open spaces of our great state, it does add challenges to excellence in customer service.
Your council staff is committed to providing the best service so that you can be equipped to give your Scouts an outstanding experience. Toward that end we are initiating several measures to focus on meeting your needs. We have had training and discussions on what it means to provide great customer service – and more are scheduled in the next couple of months. Nationally, the BSA is providing periodic online surveys for leaders, parents and chartered partners that provide valuable feedback to us – helping us to know what is working well, and what areas need improvement.
Locally, we will be asking for your feedback on activities and services more often. I would encourage you to respond when asked for your opinion. You can expect a general Customer Service Survey within the next few weeks. In addition, I am inviting you now to provide feedback whenever you have had a particularly good, or particularly frustrating experience, with our staff on a matter of Scouting business.
In many cases it will make sense to talk with your District Executive. However, don’t hesitate to contact other members of the staff or me if appropriate – my email address is gordon.rubard and my phone number here at the office is 406-761-6000, ext 206 – if I am not in you can always leave a voicemail 24/7.
It is terrific to get positive feedback so we can thank and reinforce the great work of a staff member when they perform superbly, and it is enormously important to know about the times when one or more of us fall short of your expectations. It is our standard and goal to do our best to make every interaction and every opportunity of service as positive and helpful as possible. Your ongoing feedback is essential for us to be successful.
