Troop Skiing Trip on March 8
Great meeting tonight! The church really appreciated all of the shoveling of the entryway. Great job, and a fabulous good turn!
It is time to start thinking about our troop skiing trip to Showdown Ski Area, which will be Saturday, March 8. Those going should plan on leaving Great Falls at about 7:30am, returning sometime around 5:30 or 6. I will have sleds with me that the boys can use after the lifts shut down at 4pm.
Family members can absolutely attend, and will help us achieve a group rate, which depends on having at least 15 people in the group. Of course, troop funds can only be used for the Scout. I hope that everyone in your family can join us for the day!
I will be teaching the Snow Sports merit badge for those of you that have not received it during our day at the hill. We will also arrange for a discussion with the Ski Patrol on ski safety, and to cover the medical portions of that merit badge.
March 8 will also be the “Big Air” competition at Showdown. I know of at least one member of the Troop that intends on competing. For those competing, please make sure your parents are in attendance and you are of sufficient ski ability. For the rest of us, it should be a great show and a lot of fun to cheer on the competitors!
So, I need everyone attending to send me an email with the specifics of what you want to do at showdown, and who from your family will be joining us. I will need to know whether or not you need to rent equipment, whether you need a beginner chair lift or all mountain lift, and whether or not you want to take a lesson.
For the never-ever skier, Showdown has a great promotion that will cover a lesson, equipment rental and beginner-chair lift for $30. That promotion can also be extended into a “Learn-to-ski-in-three” which will cover all your needs for three trips to Showdown, including lessons, for $100.
Anyway, please get back to me and let me know if you and your family will be joining us!
