Wonderful Campout this Weekend!
We had a wonderful, if snowy, campout this weekend! I hope that you all had a great time.
Congratulations to Stephen Boyd for being selected as an Ordeal Candidate to the Order of the Arrow! Stephen will be going to the Melita Island Ordeal Weekend (June 6-8). If any Arrowmen in our Troop would like to attend Ordeal and ride with him, please contact Stephen for a potential ride.
Congratulations also to all of our Scouts who completed rank requirements! We did conduct a few Scoutmaster Conferences and Boards of Review for Rank advancement at the Campout. Please look at your books; if you think you can complete a rank advancement before our Court of Honor on April 21, please contact me as soon as possible this week and I will make sure that you get recognized for your work.
Congratulations also to our two Assistant Patrol Leaders, Daniel Stone and Jack Dresel, who took the reins as acting Patrol Leaders this weekend, and to Max Weissman and Brennan Lukas, who stepped in as our acting Senior Patrol Leader and acting Assistant Senior Patrol Leader! Everything went very smoothly and I am thrilled with how everyone worked together.
We held our second annual “Iron Chef Cook Off” between the Trolls and the Panthers this weekend. The secret ingredient this year was the vegetable FENNEL. The Panthers cooked a spaghetti with meat sauce and the Trolls prepared a beef stew. By vote of our two celebrity judges (Kyle Roberts and Tanner Dodge), the Panthers won again this year, although the secret ingredient was more clearly tasted in the Trolls stew/soup.
I would also like to take a few moments to recognize Wyatt Tanner, who took lead on the return of tables for Mrs. Abarr’s fundraiser yesterday. Wyatt has also accepted a leadership position in our Troop, and is now our Chaplain’s Aide.
We will NOT have a meeting tonight as we are following a campout and it is the first night of Passover. However, we WILL have a Court of Honor and potluck meal on the evening of April 21, at 7pm at Trinity Lutheran Church. As discussed at our PLC last week, the Panther patrol is to bring a main dish and a dessert. The Troll patrol is to bring a main dish and a salad. I would appreciate it if I could have a work detail meet me at the church at 6pm to help setup. We will complete our Court of Honor by 8:30, but please plan on lingering for a short while to help clean up.
We will have a special guest at our Court of Honor. Troop 1 Scoutmaster Paul Grosveld will be giving a presentation on Scouting’s Investment in Character and Leadership fundraising program. Please make a point of attending to recognize our Scouts for their accomplishments and to enjoy a meal together.
I look forward to seeing you all on Monday, April 21!
