A Few Words from the Scoutmaster on Cinco de Mayo!
Did you all see the hailstorm yesterday? Wow! It is a been a long time since there was golf-ball sized hail in Great Falls. I hope that none of you had any damage at home.
We have a fun theme for our May meetings; FRISBEE! At most of the meetings, we will be learning and playing ultimate frisbee and golf. Tonight is the first meeting on May, and we will have our monthly Patrol Leader’s Council meeting at 6:30pm and Troop meeting at 7pm. Both will be in our regular meeting space at Trinity Lutheran Church.
In addition to frisbee, tonight is also our “mid-year calendar conference”. In August, we put together as many details for our annual calendar as we could, but as you are all aware, a lot of items have had to be changed in the intervening months. Tonight, we will look at our themes and events for May, June, July and August. Please bring your calendars and parents so that we can nail down many details for a fun Scouting summer!
Other Scouting events this week include our District Meeting on Tuesday at 7:30pm at 1015 15th Ave S (for those of you interested) and our District awards banquet on Friday at 6pm. Parents, are we still going to enter the chili competition? If so, let’s discuss tonight.
Finally, one update and correction about the Scouting pep band. I spent the weekend at the Montana Council Annual Convention in Billings. The Council Camporee team was there and told me that ANYONE could play in the band, regardless of how long you have been playing your instrument. If you want to play in the Scouting pep band at the Council Camporee, please send an email to councilcamporee with your name, troop, instrument and number of years experience with that instrument.
Yours in Scouting,
Scoutmaster, Troop 1026, Great Falls, MT
