Summer Break!

Troop 26;

School is out, the outdoor public pools are open and the Farmer’s Market has begun! I hope that you are all ready for a fun Summer!

Our Troop has made plans for a very fun and engaging Summer as well. This month, we will be attending the Council Camporee in Townsend. What is a Council Camporee? Hundreds of Scouts from all over the State will be camping together and having all sorts of activities, including ga-ga ball, shooting, rope and bridge building, and much more! There will also be fireworks, music shows and our very own Scouting Pep Band. I hope you all are looking forward to this event, which is only held a few times a decade.

At our meeting tonight, 7pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, we will be discussing specific plans for our trip to the Camporee, including transportation details and our meals there. I know that you all have a lot of questions about these items, and I look forward to clearing up those details tonight.

In addition, we are planning a one-day float trip through the Sluice Boxes at Belt Creek. This float will be for our older Scouts who are stronger swimmers. Tonight, we will be discussing and planning the details of that trip, including the date and other specifics.

Parents, please also make sure that I have an updated medical form for your Scout, and for you if you plan on joining us on any activity. Medical forms are only good for 12 months, so most of the forms we collected at the beginning of last Summer are now expired. I will have blank medical forms tonight. If your Scout is attending Summer camp with us, I will also need part “C” competed by a medical professional.

As school is now out, you may wear your Class “B” t-shirt to meetings. Olive-green Scout pants are still part of our uniform. You have the opportunity to earn 2 points per meeting for our Christmas auction if you wear both the top and bottom parts of our uniform to meetings.

Lastly, I wish to offer my congratulations to Jack Dresel, Max Weissman and Stephen Boyd, who attended Order of the Arrow Ordeal this past weekend. Jack, Max and I are now Brotherhood members of the Order, and Stephen is now an Ordeal member. If all members of the Order is our Troop will stay after the meeting tonight, we will have a brief discussion about some chapter business.

I look forward to seeing you at our meeting tonight!

Yours in Scouting,

Mr. Weissman
