Knots and Advancements
I hope that you are having a great week! I would like to take a moment to thank those (few) of you that attended our committee/parent meeting this past Wednesday. We make a lot of decisions for the future of the Troop at these meetings, and it is very important that all parents and committee members participate.
We are getting very close to our next Court of Honor. The Troop Christmas Party and Court of Honor is December 15. A number of you are very close to your next Scout rank. If you would like to be recognized for YOUR achievements at the Court of Honor, please make a point to attend our Troop meetings between now and then in your Scout uniform so that we can get you a Scoutmaster conference and Board of Review. Be sure to take your Scout book to all meetings.
At our next meeting (November 24 at 7pm at Trinity Lutheran Church) we will be learning knot and rope skills. Assistant Scoutmasters Mike and Tami Lukas will be leading the program for this meeting. In addition, Patrol leaders please be prepared to report on your progress on the work your patrol is doing to get ready for the “Zombie Apocalypse” Klondike Derby.
I have some exciting news! You can now keep track of our Troop and the Scout office records for your Scout advancements through a new online tracking tool, Scoutbook.com!
A few words for parents: I have sent all parents and committee members login credentials for the site. If you have not done so, please take a few moments to activate your account and logon to the system. Please let me know if you would like me to resend those credentials to you. We have some data entry to do to record a number of our less recent Troop activities and advancements. Please take a look at your son’s account in the system and enter that information from his Scout book. Doing so will really help us out.
If you would like your Scout to have access to his own Scoutbook account, you (and only you) can activate his own account through the “Edit Profile” link in his Scoutbook page. Please call me with any questions.
We will be sending out updated balances on your Troop Scout accounts this weekend. A number of Scouts in the Troop still need to turn in popcorn funds, and we need those funds immediately as we need to pay for our popcorn at the Scout office next week. Any money you do not turn by Monday, 11/24 that is still owed will be charged to your Scout account. Please make every effort to turn in all funds and bring your Scout account current.
Finally, we also need a lot of parental help to make sure that our Christmas Party is a success. We will take some time at our Scout meeting for a parents discussion on these subjects.
Yours in Scouting,
Scoutmaster, Troop 1026, Great Falls, MT
