Cycling and Hiking R US!

Troop 26;

I hope that you had a nice time disc golfing last night! I had a lot of fun, and hope that we can schedule more Summer meetings there to work on our game.

How about a bike ride? The Troop will lead another 10 mile ride this coming Thursday (June 18) at 6pm, meeting at the Knickerbiker parking lot. The ride will be led by Mr. Nowell and Mrs. Weissman. If everyone brings a few dollars for ice cream we will stop at the half-way point to make it happen. Remember; cycling merit badge is Eagle required and this is a great way to get started on your path to earning it.

Our Showdown hike and campout is this weekend! I hope you are all looking forward to a fun and meaningful weekend. We will meet and depart from Trinity Lutheran Church (1226 1st Ave N) at 5:30pm on Friday, June 19. I will have blank permission slips to sign at our departure. You can also print out a permission slip from the Showdown hike event page at Scoutbook.com. The Troop will be providing water at the top of the mountain; other than that you must bring all of your own food for the weekend. Please also bring enough water for the hike.

As we will be performing a forestry service project for the GF Ski Club, please bring hedge trimmers and work gloves for Saturday. The Troop will drive the tools to the top of the mountain; you do not have to carry them up.

Parents and family members are welcome to join us for a campfire program on Saturday evening on the top of the mountain. You will have to park in the Showdown parking lot and walk to the top, however. We will depart on Sunday as soon as we have patrolled our campsite for FOD and hiked back to the parking lot. Please expect us back in Great Falls by early to mid morning so that everyone can enjoy Father’s Day with their families.

There will be NO meeting on Monday, June 22. This would be a great time for Patrols to meet for an activity (more disc golf, anyone)? Patrol Leaders, I encourage you to plan an activity for your Patrols for that day.

Yours in Scouting,

Mr. Weissman
