Plan to Work and then Work the Plan!
Last week’s Court of Honor was AWESOME! I am so proud of everyone. With almost 100 ranks, awards and merit badges awarded, this was easily the biggest court of honor in recent Troop 26 history, and it was only four months since our last Court of Honor!
Our annual calendar conference tomorrow, August 31 at 6pm at Trinity Lutheran Church (1226 1st Avenue North) is one of our most important meetings of the coming program year. Tomorrow we will be making the plans that will define our troop for 2016-2016. How active should we be? Who should be leading us? Do we keep following many of our traditions? We will commit to a budget and that will guide us all year long. Troop 26 is YOUR troop, and I can not emphasize too much that every youth and parent in the Troop should make a point to attend.
As this important meeting starts an hour before normal, the Troop will provide a hot dog dinner for everyone. The Troop will provide hot dogs, buns, potato salad and lemonade. If you want anything in addition, please bring it. We will also provide paper plates, etc., for everyone (last week’s mess kit experiment didn’t go so well). If anyone would like to help me put this dinner together, I would appreciate it. If you can help, please give me a call at 406-868-8982.
Tomorrow’s meeting will also be our Patrol Leader’s Conference for the month of September. All youth leaders (SPL, ASPL, PLs, APLs, Quartermaster, Scribe, etc.) should make a point to attend. In addition to the calendar conference, the PLC will be making their plans for the upcoming Fall Camporee.
Looking forward, we will not be meeting on September 7 due to Labor Day. The Lewis and Clark District Scout Show will be on September 12 in the Montana State Fairgrounds. The same weekend is the scheduled work weekend for Eric Abarr’s Eagle Project.
We will meet on Monday, September 14 at 7pm at Trinity Lutheran. The program of that meeting will be preparation for the District Fall camporee. The District Fall Camporee will be the weekend of September 18-20 in the Wolf Creek area. This Camporee, a join event organized by the Prickly Pear (Helena area) and the Lewis and Clark (Great Falls area) districts, looks like a lot of fun. Please mark your calendars for this one!
We will have a very short meeting to award top camper on September 21. The Montana Council Popcorn sale will be Saturday, September 26 – Sunday, October 8.
Please make a point to attend our meeting tomorrow. I look forward to seeing you at 6pm at Trinity Lutheran!
