Popcorn Training and Best Camper Awards Tonight!
What a fun Camporee this weekend! The boys that attended had a great time. Some of the fun events included Canoe Races, the Lizigator and toxic waste disposal. Each event required problem solving, teamwork and Scout skills.
Instead of putting up our standard cook tent, the boys put up the “Philmont Dining Fly” using our large tarp. Turned out to be a great place to find some shade to prepare food and eat. I think we made some new traditions this weekend; I hope you all join us on our next campout!
Troop 26 will meet tonight, September 21 at 7pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1226 1st Avenue North, for popcorn training and to award best camper from the Camporee. We will hand out popcorn forms, tell you about this year’s products and prizes and get you details for this year’s sale.
Popcorn is our number 1 fundraiser each year. Boys in our Troop have been able to fund their entire Scouting adventures with popcorn sales (without asking for any checks from Mom or Dad). Some get to go to all of our events including Summer Camp with no other fundraising! One boy in our Troop was even able to go to National Jamboree in 2013, funded entirely by popcorn sales. You can do it!
At a minimum, any boy that sells at least $500 in popcorn will not have to pay annual registration dues ($60). Every Scout in Troop 26 should be at our meeting tonight and participate in the popcorn sale.
See you tonight!
