Investment in Character in Leadership discussion at Court of Honor on Monday
During our upcoming Court of Honor on April 25, 6pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, we will be having our annual Investment in Character and Leadership (ICL) discussion. Although this is just a short part of our program, it is important. ICL is the opportunity for each family in our unit to support Montana Scouting in a meaningful way. We will have a guest speaker join us for this short portion of our program to explain how it works and how each of us can participate.
Like most non-profit organizations, fundraising is a necessary and meaningful process in ensuring the health and vitality of an organization. In our case, participation helps to ensure the Montana Council of BSA can continue to provide the programming and resources we rely on in the development of character and leadership in our boys.
There are several levels of recognition a unit may achieve based on average pledge per youth in our unit – Bronze, Gold, or Platinum. Achieving one of these levels provides benefits such as discounts to camps and for advancement badges at the Council office. Another criterion for these benefits is to strive for 100% participation of families in our unit. We have managed to maintain Gold status for the past several years. This status has resulted in real savings to our Troop for Summer Camp expenses and for necessary purchases at the Scout office (including membership handbooks, Court of Honor supplies, merit badge pamphlets, etc.)
Our goal is for each family to consider how they may be able to contribute towards the Investment in Character and Leadership Campaign. Some may be able to do considerably more and some less in meeting the unit goal. The pledge card you will receive during the presentation provides you the option of giving whatever you feel you can give. No amount is too small or too large. Completed pledge cards are handled confidentially.
Each family is encouraged to come to the presentation prepared to fill out your family pledge card. Thank you for your consideration.
