Almost August Already?

Troop 26;

Wow. What a great week at Melita Island. I was honored to camp with each and every one of you. In addition to the gorgeous setting, I have such great feelings about working with such a high performing group of young men. So far, we have seven ranks and 30 merit badges to award at our Court of Honor in late August. At the rate our Troop is performing, I am sure that there will be many more accomplishments this coming month.

The end of Summer camp marked the end of Michael Frost’s term as Senior Patrol Leader. I salute Michael’s hard work and dedication over the past eight months. Tyler Kiamas has taken over as SPL and Michael has replaced him as ASPL until the end of the calendar year. We will have a great remainder of 2016 under Tyler and Michael’s continued leadership.

Our August Patrol Leader’s Conference will be on August 1 at 6pm at the Black Eagle Community Center (2332 Smelter Avenue NE), followed by our Troop meeting at 7pm at the same location. All Scouts with leadership positions in the Troop should attend our PLC meeting. This month we will be planning for our August family campout and Eagle Project, as well as making plans for our August Court of Honor. We will also begin preparing for Fall Camporee.

Please mark your calendars for our August Family Campout at the Aspen Campground near Monarch, MT over August 5-6. On August 6 we will be helping Ryan Detrick with his Eagle Project near Monarch. More information about the campout and the project will be discussed at our meeting on August 1. Please make a point to help our Eagle candidates with your projects — remember, sometime soon YOU will be asking the Troop for help with your project.

In addition, please mark your calendars for our August Court of Honor and potluck BBQ on Monday, August 29 at the Black Eagle Community Center. As I noted above, Troop 26’s Scouts have earned an incredible amount of achievements and I am looking forward to recognizing all of you at our Court of Honor.

Finally, please mark your calendars for our District Fall Camporee over the weekend of September 16. More information about this Camporee will also be discussed at our meeting on Monday.

Have a great Scouting weekend, and I look forward to seeing you at our PLC and Troop meetings on August 1.

Yours in Scouting,

Mr. Weissman
