Campout and Eagle Project this Weekend near Monarch, MT
Happy Fair Week Troop 26! I hope that you have all found fun rides and enough fried foods to tide you over for another year.
Our Troop Family Campout is this Friday evening, August 5, at the Aspen campground near Monarch. If you need a ride please get in touch with me directly as soon as possible. If you are camping, please also get in touch with me as soon as possible with the number of people that will be joining you so that we can buy enough food. The Troop will be making supper on Friday night, breakfast on Saturday morning and providing lunch at the Eagle project on Saturday at a cost of $12/person. All are invited.
I will be driving up mid morning on Friday and can take up to five more Scouts with me. Any Scouts camping this weekend without their families should complete a BSA permission slip and have it signed. Please let me know today if you need a ride, and if we should be buying food for you and your family.
Ryan Detrick’s Eagle Project will be held at the historic Civilian Conservation Corps Co. 1999 campsite about a mile North of the Belt Creek Ranger Station on Saturday, August 6. We should be there as soon as we clean up from breakfast at our campsite. If you are coming up on Saturday morning, you will see us on the left side of US89, across from the airfield used by the Belt Ranger Station. We will be removing vegetation and repainting the rocks at the campsite. Please bring sturdy hiking shoes, work gloves a water bottle and a hat to protect you from the sun.
Looking forward in the calendar, we are going to be working on our Orienteering skills during August! Mr. Cunningham will be leading us for our next three meetings and covering map and compass skills as well as practice with GPS devices. Our first meeting in this series will be this coming Monday, August 8 at the Black Eagle Community Center at 7pm. Many requirements for the Orienteering Merit Badge (as well as requirements for Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class ranks) will be completed if you attend all three meetings.
Our Summer Court of Honor will be Monday, August 29 at 6pm at the Black Eagle Community Center. Troop 26 has earned a huge number of awards, ranks and merit badges since our last Court of Honor! As always, our Court of Honor will be a potluck meal. This year we are going to attempt to have a dutch oven theme! Please bring a dish to share.
Finally, please mark your calendars for the Eagle Court of Honor for Jordan Christian and Wyatt Tanner, which will be September 19 at 6pm at the New City Church. Jordan and Wyatt will be having a dessert reception after the Court of Honor and they ask everyone to bring a dessert to share. More information will be coming soon about Jordan and Wyatt’s Eagle Court.
I look forward to seeing you all at our Family Campout and Eagle Project this weekend!
