How does the GPS system actually work?

Troop 26;

Happy Monday!  I hope that you all had a great weekend and are looking forward to Thanksgiving.
We will continue learning about technology at our meeting tonight, November 21 at the Black Eagle Community Center, 2332 Smelter Avenue.  We will be looking at how the GPS system works and we will be completing the work we began this Summer on the Orienteering merit badge.  We hope that you will find it interesting.
The Troop will be holding another in-person Popcorn sale and grocery bagging fundraiser this coming Sunday, November 27 at 11am at the Albertson’s on 10th Avenue South.  These fundraisers are a great way to bolster your Scout account and pay for your participation in all of our activities!
Our next meeting will be Monday, November 28 at the Black Eagle Community Center.  At this meeting we will be continuing our technology theme.  If you come, you will earn your cyber-chip for your rank and we will be discussing how smartphones work.  Plus, we will be learning about the importance of strong passwords for your devices and how to create effective passwords that will help keep your device secure.
A few bits of financial housekeeping:
* All popcorn money is due at our meeting tonight.  We have to pay for the popcorn we sold this week and need you to turn in your delivery funds.  Next week, your account will be credited with your sales.  If you still owe funds from your sale, we will charge your account by the amount you owe. Popcorn prizes will be distributed at our Christmas party on December 19.
* Some of you still owe money in your Scout account from this Summer.  If this applies to you, the Troop needs you to clear up your Scout account as soon as possible.  If your popcorn profits can not cover your account, then I suggest that you attend more of the fundraisers we organize.
* We will be going to K-M Summer Camp in 2017, over July 10-15!  K-M has an incredible program, with a challenging high-ropes and zip line course, ATVs, shooting sports, the Mountain Man backcountry experience and more.  The Troop is taking advantage of early bird registration this year, at only $199 per Scout.  This is almost $100 off per person.  The Troop is going to reserve 10 slots at this price.  To commit your reservation, please contact me and pay for that registration.  You can authorize the money to be charged against your Scout account if you have enough money raised in that account.  Once those 10 slots are gone, additional slots will be at full price ($295).
* K-M Early bird registration for Adults is $85.  This is forty dollars off the full price.  Please contact me if you want to take advantage of this adult early bird registration price.
Yours in Scouting,
Mr. Weissman
